Michael Jordan reveals the final text messages from Kobe Bryant

This Saturday will have the opportunity to witness a truly historical moment when Michael Jordan will induct the late great Kobe Bryant to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. It feels fitting the person doing it is Jordan, who, throughout the years, created a relationship with Kobe that turned into a genuine friendship and mentorship by Jordan. On the other hand, Kobe patterned his game watching Jordan, and often, the resemblance in their playing style and mannerism was striking.

Ahead of the ceremony, Jordan gave an interview for Jackie MacMullan of ESPN, in which he talked about his last exchange with Kobe right before he passed away. In addition, Jordan revealed the texts from December 8th, 2019, in which they were discussing his new business venture with a tequila company.

This tequila is awesome," Kobe texted, referring to Jordan's Cincoro Tequila, a bottle of which was sent to Bryant at the launch.

"Thank you, my brother," Jordan responded. "Yes, sir. Family good?" Kobe replied.

"All good. Yours?" "All good."

Jordan smiled, then decided to have a little fun. "He was really into coaching Gigi," MJ explains, "so I hit him up about that."

"Happy holidays," Jordan texted back, "and hope to catch up soon. Coach Kobe??!" "I added that little crying/laughing emoji," Jordan chuckles.

"Ah, back at you, man," Kobe wrote. "Hey, coach, I'm sitting on the bench right now, and we're blowing this team out. 45-8."

Even though there were only a few texts exchanged between them, you can see their relationship was amazing, and they were both supportive of each other and making sure their families come first. Kobe was at that time coaching at Gianna's game, seeing his team dominate the opposing squad. We're positive Jordan will deliver an impactful speech on Saturday and introduce Kobe in the HOF in a memorable way, just like he deserves it.
