“I felt like it was a cheap shot” - Marcus Morris appears to call out Joe Ingles for Kawhi Leonard’s injury in 2021

Joe Ingles and Kawhi Leonard

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is back after a long layoff that saw him miss the entire 2021-22 season. His teammates are likely enthused because it gives the organization a real shot at fighting for the title. However, Marcus Morris is apparently still salty about how Leonard got his injury in the first place.

Dirty play?

Asked by reporters how it felt to have Leonard back on the court again, Morris remembered the play that caused the two-time champion to be on the sideline for more than a year.

The 12th-year pro was referring to the bump that Joe Ingles gave Leonard halfway into the fourth quarter of Game 4 of the 2021 Western Conference Semifinals matchup between the Clippers and Utah Jazz.

While Leonard remained on the floor for a few minutes after the foul, he was diagnosed with a right knee injury. He missed the rest of the series and the postseason after undergoing surgery to repair a partial ACL tear.

Can Clips contend again?

It was unfortunate for the organization that the two-time Finals MVP had his season cut short due to the injury.

It seemed like the team had a great chance of making it to the Finals. After all, the Clippers took the eventual Western Conference champs Phoenix Suns to six games without Leonard.

Now that the two-time champion has returned, L.A. is one of the favorites to win the West. Fans are hoping he can remain healthy for the rest of the season.
