The Los Angeles Lakers are down 0-4 to start the season after losing to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night. Nuggets role player Bruce Brown found a way to add insult to injury when he talked trash to LeBron James for the Lakers' defensive scheme against him.
Brown letting it fly
Los Angeles probably wanted to pack the paint against Denver to limit two-time MVP Nikola Jokic's offense. As such, it made sense for the team to give Brown some space, considering he hasn't been that much of a threat from deep in previous seasons. Luckily for the Nuggets, he made the Lakers pay as he made 4-of-6 from 3-point land.
However, it seems that the Lakers did not read the scouting report because Brown has improved remarkably this season. Before Wednesday, he was converting 40.0% of his 3-point shots. Playing with Jokic has clearly benefited the 6-foot-4 wing player.
James and his squad seemed to have a chance to upset the Nuggets during the first half. They kept it close through two quarters, tying their opponent's 54 points entering halftime.
However, after the break, things unraveled for the Lakers, as the Nuggets ran away with the game, defeating them 110-99.
James had a terrible evening, shooting only 38.1% from the field and committing eight turnovers.
Something has to change for the Lakers if they want to get their first victory of the campaign on Friday. It will be a tall order, though, as they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
