LeBron James shares where he wants to end his career

LeBron-James

Unfortunately, all great things must come to an end, as father time shows mercy to no one. So the career of LeBron James is slowly winding down to its end, as the Lakers' small forward is set to turn 37 at the end of this year. Considering he came into the NBA straight out of high school at 19 years old, the ride has been long and successful for "The King." The durability allowed him to dominate for a long time, but as recently, injuries have started to catch up with LeBron, the question of retirement has become more relevant.

LeBron never addressed at which age he wants to hang them up, but it seems at least he knows where he wants to end it. Since coming to LA back in 2018, it has been speculated he will finish his career in the bright lights of Los Angeles, causally switching to Hollywood after his playing days. But after a disappointing season, rumors started swirling if another run somewhere else was a possibility. But the extension that will keep LeBron in LA at least till 2023 shut down that talk.

While promoting the release of the highly anticipated sequel of Space Jam in which he is starring, LeBron touched on the subject of his future in the NBA and with the Lakers, saying how he wants to finish his career in Los Angeles:

"I truly hope that I can finish my career with the Lakers. However many years that is, if it's four, five, six, whatever, seven. I hope I can continue to play the game. I love being in LA, my family loves being in LA Being with a historical franchise like the Lakers is something ... It's like me being in "Space Jam" -- I never thought it would be possible. You think about Kareem, and Magic, and Wilt, and Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, Kobe, Shaq and all of them. The whole list goes on."

Lebron James, SmartLess

Well, it seems only logical LeBron would want to spend the last few years of his career in a comfortable situation with the Lakers, rather than having to move somewhere else and move his family along from the luxurious LA lifestyle. His eldest son Bronny is playing for the prestigious Sierra Canyon High School basketball team on the way to an NBA career. One LeBron would love to be a part of, even for just one year. So removing him from that program would definitely damage Bronny's prospects.

But who knows, many things can change in two years, and LeBron is known for switching his intentions through time. After all, he has a young co-star in Anthony Davis, and with the appeal of being a Laker, they will be able to assemble a contending team every year. Something Lebron will prioritize in order to get some more rings to his name for the sake of his legacy.
