LeBron James called his monster 4th quarter against the Cavs before it happened

LeBron James decided that he's going to make his comeback game in Cleveland memorable. It had been more than two years since his last game due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the Lakers star made up for the lost time.

In a game played last week, James scored a season-high 46 points in the Laker's 115-108 win. That, however, wasn't the main topic after the game. James noticed Jason Hillman, the Cavs' chief of staff during the third quarter, being overly excited when he missed a shot.

“I felt like he was just a little bit too excited about seeing me miss. He was really excited about me missing that shot. A little bit more extra than I would have liked. But he's got to root for his team, obviously. And he was, he showcased that. So I knew I had another quarter, and the fourth quarter's my favorite.”

And then he single-handedly picked apart his former team, outscoring the Cavs 21 to 19 in the fourth quarter. LeBron was unstoppable after Hilmann's reaction, and now Kevin Love gave an insight on how it went down. Love shared the moment on the Road Trippin podcast.

"Steve Spiro comes to me and said someone in the front office pissed Lebron off, don't be surprised if he had 25 points in this quarter. Bron had two layups and a dunk within I think first 90 seconds. And we call a timeout and Steve just looks at me...”

Even if you didn't spend time on the same team with LeBron, you know it's bad news when LeBron shifts to top gear like that. Kevin Love didn't need his experience with LeBron; he got the information first hand.

“Bron comes over, gives me a little dap, and says 'Hey KLove, I swear to God if they gap me I'm shooting this bi***.' He was 6 for ten at the time; he was like, 'They better not gap me, I'm gonna let this thing fly.' I was like, 'You better not gap him.' And what happens is we gap him. It's a pick and roll action with Jarret Allen and Isaac Okoro, where Isaac's a rookie, he's going by the game plan. But you know, Bron has 40 points at the time, he's 6 for ten for three so you got to make adjustments. Of course, they gap it and as soon as they do, you can see me walking away with my hands over my head. And Phil Handy run the video like four times, one in slow motion, then the rewind... That was a really funny, funny moment."

Still, I'm not sure was it funny for Hilman at the time. This could serve as an excellent reminder to people in the NBA to what happens when you express your excitement after the top guys miss their shots. It usually blows up in your face.
