Kyrie Irving held his first press conference today in a Brooklyn Nets jersey and this was his first appearance in the media after he left the Boston Celtics this summer. The Brooklyn Nets were one of the most active teams this summer acquiring Irving, Durant and DeAndre Jordan which definitely makes them a championship contender in the next couple of seasons despite Durant's Achilles injury.
On the press conference today, Irving talked about the opportunity that presented itself with the Nets organization. He said they immediately felt welcomed which helped them plan the future so much easier with the Nets. Irving believes the future looks bright for this team and said this is an environment all three players never had so far in their careers.
"We were just talking about our future and how this opportunity ahead of us is something we haven't had in our careers. The ability to make a choice sitting down and actually talking in detail about the future and the investment we have in each other and the investment we wanted to have in Brooklyn. It makes sense all the way around and then having the incredible people they have in the Brooklyn organization made it that much easier. They made us feel like All-Stars, they made us feel like it's fair from the media component to our teammates, from the first-class service they gave us here. For me, the most important thing is the family atmosphere they have here. It felt like they are very inclusive with everything they had going on here and it was like a step away from being from home."
