Knicks "started to lay the internal groundwork" to fire Fizdale

David-Fizdale

The New York Knicks president Steve Mills has started to prepare the groundwork to fire coach Fizdale, per Malika Andrews and Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN. The Knicks traded Porzingis and made moves to free up space for Durant and Irving. When they opted for the Nets, the Knicks signed every available power forward and are now 2 - 8.

You'd think that creating such a roster would fall in the lap of people who signed all those power forwards - Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, and Marcus Morris. In an unexpected turn of events, instead of accepting responsibility, Steve Mills thinks it is Fizdale who should fall on the sword (via ESPN):

"Everyone is moving to their positions now," a league source close to management and the coaching staff told ESPN. "This is how they'll make (Fizdale) the fall guy."

The story Mills has been putting out there is that the team is lacking effort and execution. Basically, it's not the roster but the coach who isn't capable of coaching them up to play at their potential.

Fizdale is not without blame, but he is not the one most responsible for the bad performances the Knicks have been putting up. As always, the decision will be made by the Knicks biggest problem. Owner James Dolan. Good luck Knicks fans.
