Kevin Durant calls Jay Williams a liar after he shared a story that never happened

jay williams & kd

Apparently, NBA analyst Jay Williams made up a story about his meeting with Kevin Durant in which Durant told him he doesn't want to be compared to Giannis Antetokounmpo. Williams said he spoke to Durant a few years ago about the similarities between the two when Giannis already established himself as one of the best players in the league. Williams made it seem like Durant was mad about the notion of comparison so much he took it personally.

Don't ever compare me to Giannis again. Don't ever compare that dude to me.

Jay Williams

When Sidelinesources broke the news, Durant immediately responded through his Instagram account, calling Williams and his story out for sharing false information.

Kevin Durant

We've seen Kevin Durant is pretty active on all social media channels, often calling people out if he thinks they shared misinformation or negative criticism about him. On the other hand, news reporters and analysts often make up stories to create hype and increase viewership. Sometimes they do it through bad publicity towards someone, but sometimes they are just making up stories. Luckily, NBA players can raise their voices through their platforms and call out the media if they are crossing the lines of quality and factual reporting.

If it's true, Jay Williams made this story about Durant and Giannis up; there should be some consequences taken about his credibility and integrity. Whether that is true or not, we'll have to wait and find out if he will be willing to clarify what he meant after Durant called him out.
