Kerr: "Last year I went overboard"

Steve Kerr spoke on the changes he needs to do in this season to keep the interest going. When asked about the toughest part of playing on such a high level for such a long time, everyone from MJ and LeBron points out that mental fatigue is even worse than the physical one. Warriors are heading into the season as the main favorites to win the NBA, which would make their 5th straight Finals appearance. Motivation at this point is key.

In the latest episode of The Jump on ESPN, Scottie Pippen asked Kerr how does he plan to contain all the technicals and ejections that clearly were an issue last season for the Warriors. Kerr said: “I think the biggest thing is we're trying to focus on how much fun this is, barring my performance last night. You know, I thought last year I might've gone overboard in addressing the fatigue issue head-on. You know, I told the guys “Look I've been there, I was there in Chicago with our team trying to get through three straight seasons. But this year we're trying to focus more on just enjoy it and have some fun.”

Kerr obviously realized the team was too focused on the difficulty on the task ahead and will try to ease up the mood around the team. We all know they don't need a lot of coaching and worrying, especially in the regular season. As he said: “We've won three of the last four, we've got a chance to win again. We've got a lot of talent, continuity. Let's enjoy the process a little more. I'm not gonna say a whole lot about fatigue and we're just gonna go and see what happens.” One thing we know for sure, bringing Boogie on board will help in the fun department for sure.
