"They are playing exceptional basketball because of Kawhi Leonard" - Kendrick Perkins refuses to hand credit to James Harden for Clippers' 13-2 run
The acquisition of James Harden initially brought ridicule to the LA Clippers and started off with a six-game losing streak. Nevertheless, following the dismal stretch, Ty Lue's team found its groove, winning 11 of their 13 games in December to move up to the fourth spot in the West.
According to Kendrick Perkins, it's undeniable that the Clippers have emerged as the most formidable contenders to challenge the Denver Nuggets' crown, being led by the 2-time Finals MVP - Kawhi Leonard.
"Are they the biggest threat in the West to the Denver Nuggets? Yes, they are. They are playing exceptional basketball because of Kawhi Leonard and his health," Perkins said. "Kawhi Leonard has the capability of being the best player in any series."
Harden was quick to call out his haters
In the aftermath of the Clippers' triumphant 131-122 victory on the road against the Kevin Durant-less Phoenix Suns, Harden, orchestrating a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists in 36 minutes, seized the opportunity to respond to the team's early detractors.
In his post-game interview, the three-time scoring champion openly acknowledged the Clippers' initial struggles and the lack of support from the media. With an impressive record of 13 wins in their last 15 games and riding a four-game winning streak, James pointed out that those hypocritical critics who once condemned the team are notably silent.
Perkins calls out James Harden
In what appeared to be a direct response to analysts, including Big Perk, Harden received a call-out from the 2008 NBA Champ. Perkins clarified how the ultimate test for 'The Beard' is to deliver a high-level performance when it matters most in the postseason.
"James Harden talking about, 'It's hard for the haters to be found.' I'm sitting right here. I'm too big to hide and I'm not hating," Perkins added. "At the end of the day, James, no one cares. We want to see what you do in the postseason."
That being said, the Clippers' resurgence has created a favorable scenario for Harden, offering his best chance at a championship, even if he fails to deliver in clutch stages in the playoffs.
