Joel Embiid as one of the funniest and outgoing players in the NBA. He once again showed that side of him in a press conference after a pretty embarrassing loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers last night.
The Cavaliers escaped with a 121-112 victory against a team that plays really good at home and gave them their first loss in front of the home crowd this season.
Embiid was asked about the game and what actually happened that made them loose to a subpar Cavaliers team on which Embiid simply replied:
"Like Tristan said before the beginning of the season, the Cavaliers still run the East, so they came here tonight and they proved us that,”
Embiid's comment was related to Tristan Thompson's previous proclamation that the Cavaliers are four-time eastern conference champions and that the teams like 76ers, Celtics and Raptors need to prove themselves and take down the Cavaliers as the best team in the east.
Even though you can argue that Thompson was technically right and the Cavaliers are still the eastern conference champions, that is changing pretty quickly this season after LeBron's departure. The Cavaliers are currently on the bottom of the eastern conference with a 3-14 record and it's not looking great for them in regards to competing for a playoff spot, but rather for a high pick in the draft next year.
The 76ers on the other side, are looking good after adding Jimmy Butler to the lineup and they are without a doubt one of the main contenders to take over the eastern conference this season. Joel Embiid is definitely the leader for them averaging 28 points and just over 13 rebounds per game, which puts him right there in the MVP conversations.
