Jared Dudley to Ben Simmons: "In the halfcourt, he is an average player"

The playoff series featuring the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers have been unexpected in some ways with the series tied 1-1. Tonight the Nets have a chance to take a lead in front of their home court crowd and really showcase if they have enough quality to overcome and beat a very talented 76ers team.

An interesting anecdote happened after the first game when Jared Dudley called Ben Simmons an average player. He did say Simmons is extremely good in transition basketball, but average in the halfcourt.

"Ben Simmons is a great player in transition. And once you get him into halfcourt, he's average."

It didn't take long for Ben to respond to Dudley's critics just today a few hours before their game.

“That’s coming from Jared Dudley?”

The Nets are playing the 76ers tonight in front of their home crowd for the first time in a couple of seasons and the intensity before the game is on a true playoff level. Ben Simmons played an extremely good game last time, having a triple-double and doing everything he could to make his team win the ball game.

If the Nets actually stop their transition and slow down Simmons, then it really is true he becomes a liability because his shooting hasn't improved recently and teams can live with him taking jump shots.
