Is Dwight Howard Having A Good Season With The Hornets?

Charlotte Hornets are having yet another disappointing season this year. They are currently in the 10th spot on the East with a 34-43 record, even though Kemba Walker is having yet another All-Star-caliber season averaging 23 points per game.

Another important piece of the Hornets team has been a 32-year-old Dwight Howard. Howard is having another solid season averaging 17 points and 12 rebounds in little over 30 minutes per game. A week ago, he had one of the most remarkable performances in recent NBA history by putting up 32 points and 30 rebounds, something which hasn't been accomplished in over 8 years.

Stats like these don't tell everything about a player's performance unless you put them into a perspective with a view to many more aspects in the game. In some of them, Dwight Howard is leading the entire league such as 51 offensive fouls this season.

We know real centers are supposed to hang out inside the court, but Dwight is currently leading the league with 13 3 second violations. He is also first in the league with technical fouls as Howard, rounded up 17 of them this season.

Blocks are important aspects on the defensive end of the floor, however, in today's game, they also have to be perfectly timed so they don't get called as goal-tends. Dwight is the first among many there with 22 goaltends so far this season.

There are some big men today who are pretty good at taking care of the ball, however, Dwight is not one of them. With 27 Turnovers, Dwight is (and you probably guessed it right) first in the NBA.

You can interpret these stats any way you want, as Dwight is having a very good season for a veteran player and is a solid contributor to his team who unfortunately will miss the playoffs this year.
