How CJ McCollum's insane 3pt shooting saved the Blazers season

CJ-McCollum

Despite a nice offseason, getting Robert Covington, Enes Kanter, Derrick Jones Jr., Harry Giles, and securing Rodney Hood and Carmelo Anthony, the Blazers weren't a lock for the playoffs at the beginning of the season. After a rocky start, going 3-4 at the beginning of the season, the Blazers won three in a row behind their star guard's tremendous play. Not that guard - I'm talking about CJ McCollum.

CJ is averaging 27.6 points on 47.0% shooting, adding 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. He turns the ball over just 1.1 times per game. And that's not the best part of his stats this season. Only two players are firing 10+ threes per game in the league. One is Steph Curry, and the other is CJ. There is a 'little' difference between them, though - Steph is sinking them with 37.6% accuracy and CJ with 43.4%.

Considering the volume, the Portland guard will see a downfall in percentages, but his current shooting form helps his confidence. He described himself as a shark after draining the game-winning shot against the Toronto Raptors.

CJ McColum

For a moment there, people started dropping rumors about the Blazers making a move for Harden. That obviously lit a fire under CJ, who made sure the Blazers think twice before entertaining the idea.

McCollum is eating pretty well this season. He scored team-high 30 points against Toronto, and before that, he scored 37 against Sacramento. His best performance was in the second game of the season against Houston when he torched the Rockets with 44 points. His plate has been pretty full till now, and most of the teams are hoping that they don't come up on his menu.
