Gilbert Arenas with a strong message to Devin Booker: "If you want to be a superstar you accept double-teams"

There was a lot of attention lately towards Devin Booker after the footage that came out showing him dominating a pick-up game and getting double-teamed by players on the opposing team. He was unhappy with the moves from the opposing players by saying "You don't double-team in a pickup game". This immediately gained attention with players jumping in to defend Booker while some thought he was wrong about having that kind of mindset during the game.

One of the players who came to his defense was Trae Young who said it becomes annoying if players play in pickups to improve individually and then other teams decide to double team.

"D-Book speaking facts... There should be NO Double Teaming in pick up. When you trying to work on your game and work on the moves and things you do individually in pick up... it’s annoying getting double teamed in that type of setting."

On the other hand, Gilbert Arenas who was a phenomenal scorer and was able to dominate opponents 1 on 1 believes Booker should accept being double-teamed if he wants to become a true superstar in the league.

"If you want to be an all-star then our complaint is correct but if you want to be a superstar..you accept double teams in a pickup. You should be offended when you don't get double teamed in the NBA, how dare some pickup ball cats don't show enough respect to your game and double team you."

For Arenas, it was also about pride because he thinks he worked too hard for any player to be able to guard him in a 1 on 1 situation. He thinks Booker should have the same mindset when attending pick ups because essentially that is what he will often face in real games.

"If the college and pro players didn't double team me at UCLA runs that shot was going up. I trained too hard to let 1 defender disrespect my game by guarding me 1 on 1."
