Giannis Antetokounmpo on his failed dunk over Daniel Gafford - “I’ve been here a decade, the legs are gone, I don’t have the legs to get that high”
The NBA hasn’t seen a ton of teams jump out of the gates this season, but one team that is having quite a good start to the campaign is the Milwaukee Bucks. The team is once again following the lead of superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is putting together another MVP-caliber campaign. As long as Antetokounmpo is healthy, the Bucks have a shot to win anytime they take the floor.
Giannis on his failed poster attempt in the Bucks' win
While Antetokounmpo has been great all season for Milwaukee, he’s taken things to another level lately.
Giannis has scored at least 40 points in five of the last seven games he’s played in, including a 55-point outburst against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. Even more impressive, in his last three games, Antetokounmpo has scored at least 40 points and recorded 10 rebounds. That’s extremely difficult to accomplish in just one game; to do it in three straight games is simply absurd.

Despite his strong stretch of play, Antetokounmpo hasn’t been perfect, because nobody is perfect, especially when it comes to the game of basketball.
Giannis attempted to pull off a mean poster against Wizards center Daniel Gafford but was unable to flush home the slam. After the game, Antetokounmpo was asked about the play and said he was trying to impress his girlfriend, before cracking a joke that he simply doesn’t have the legs to make those types of plays anymore.
Antetokounmpo remains one of the best dunkers in the NBA
Despite his jokes, it’s clear that Antetokounmpo is still very much at the top of his game, both in terms of production and his dunking capabilities.
Giannis is averaging 32.8 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per game on the season, which is one of the best stat lines in the league. Antetokounmpo also had an impressive windmill dunk on a fastbreak against Washington to prove that he still can hit throw it down with style.
Antetokounmpo may have failed to convert this wild poster attempt over Gafford, but there will surely be other opportunities for him to add to his highlight reel of dunks. And while he may be saying publicly that he doesn’t think he can still dunk over folks, it is likely only a matter of time before we see another crazy dunk from Giannis come across our screens.
