Giannis Antetokounmpo said he wanted Kawhi Leonard to stay in Toronto

kawhi vs giannis (1)

Giannis Antetokounmpo was hoping for a rematch against Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors next season in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Giannis, Kawhi decided to leave Toronto and find his happiness back in his home town Los Angeles signing for the Clippers.

The Milwaukee Bucks lost in a 6 game series, that came a bit as of a surprise because many analysts had the Bucks winning this series and playing against the Warriors in the NBA Finals. Giannis was once again the best players on their team, however, several times during the series Kawhi showed he is a better and more experienced player. Kawhi made the right decision on both ends of the floor, and this is something Giannis learned from and is looking for a rematch.

"For me personally, I would love for Kawhi to stay in the East and stay in Toronto because I would love to go through the series [with them] again. But unfortunately, this is the NBA we are talking about. Moves happen. People change teams. But we got an opportunity right now. We got to take advantage of it, and hopefully, we can seize the opportunity and make big things happen."

With the current shifts in the NBA after the free agency, the Bucks are still the favorites to win the eastern conference, and on the other hand, the Clippers are in a really good position to win the west. The western conference has 5-6 really good teams so their road to the finals might be a bit harder but there is definitely an opportunity we see another rematch between Giannis and Kawhi next season.
