Shams Charania and Erik Spoelstra

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has seen it all. One of the best coaches in the NBA, a descendant of Pat Riley, Spo knows he has to expect everything. That being said, he was caught off guard when Shams reported a roster move even Spoelstra didn't know got done.

"Is that already out here?"

When asked about Miami's decision to sign promising shooting guard Dru Smith to a contract, Spoelstra immediately got floored and cut off the reporter's question.

"Is that already out here?" the 51-year-old coach answered. "I'm gonna pause before I answer anything about the business right now."

Charania, the renowned NBA insider, was among the first to report that the Heat signed Smith to a two-way contract following a strong showing in the preseason.

Shams vs. Woj

Some people have found the race for the hottest scoops between Charania and another insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, entertaining.

There was a time when league fans would wait on Wojnarowski to tweet breaking news and rumors, referred to as "Woj Bombs." However, a rival in Charania soon emerged and has been beating Woj in recent years.

Those who want the latest and trending scoops in the NBA follow Charania, Wojnarowski, or both, on social media. Of course, some teams might not be thrilled that either insider can get hold of sensitive information even before official announcements are made.
