There was quite a bit uncertainty for DeMarcus Cousins heading into free-agency and there were even some he believed not a lot of teams would be interested in his services, at least not under the terms he initially wanted. The Los Angeles Lakers recognized the opportunity and signed DeMarcus Cousins hoping he can adjust to their completely new roster and help the team get back into the playoffs.
DeMarcus will join several familiar faces, with Rondon and AD being his former teammates while he played for the New Orleans Pelicans. He actually said they were the ones who were predominantly in charge of getting him to the Lakers simply because they previously discussed the opportunity to join forces.
Cousins is excited about the opportunity to play with his former teammates and LeBron James in hopes of making it deep to the playoffs, something the Lakers haven't achieved in over 6 years, ever since Kobe Bryant was still the main superstar on the roster.
"AD, LeBron, Rondo all threw a pitch at me to get me in. I really talked a lot with Rondo and AD and they basically kidnapped me to come here. Those are two really good friends of mine and obviously, we were teammates previously before this. We enjoyed our time together as teammates so we always talked about teaming back up and the opportunity presented itself."
