“Thought…players decide the game” - De’Aaron Fox deletes controversial tweet after Lakers beat Kings in a controversial manner
De’Aaron Fox was furious with the game officials on Saturday as the Los Angeles Lakers recorded their 5th straight win at the expense of the Sacramento Kings in a controversial manner.
After throwing his arm sleeve on the floor while having a heated word with a game official, Fox left the Golden 1 Center in disgust. His frustration was seemingly through the roof as the 25-year-old condemned the refs for their clutch decision-making ability after the game ended via Twitter. However, understanding the consequences of his actions, De’Aaron quickly backtracked and deleted the same.
Fox wrote, “Thought we were supposed to let the players decided the game.”

Which controversial call upset De’Aaron Fox?
Let's turn back the time clock for those who missed the LIVE action. With only 3.6 seconds remaining on the game clock, De’Aaron Fox wanted to block Dennis Schroder from scoring an easy layup. However, because of a slight contact while Schroder was in his shooting action, a foul call was penalized against Fox.
Kings Head Coach Mike Brown even used his challenge to uphold the call, but the game officials were firm in sending Schroder to the line. Eventually, with no timeouts left and just over 3 seconds remaining on the clock, Fox decided to launch a wild half-court game-winner which was never the ideal choice.
Safe to say, Fox was in no mood to digest the loss as he voiced out his annoyance with the game officials on Twitter, refusing to swallow their whistles on the last play.
De’Aaron was also accompanied by his wife - Recee Caldwell, who too threw shades at the officials for deciding the outcome on Saturday in a controversial manner.
What next for Sacramento Kings?
The Kings point guard was sensational in the second half, as no Lakers’ defender seemed t have an answer for his fast-paced attack. As a result, Fox team-high 34 points, 2 rebounds, and 9 assists at an efficiency rate of 52.4% from the field.
Despite the loss, the Kings (20-18) are placed firmly as the fifth seed in the Western Conference. Their next challenge would be against Paolo Banchero and his Orlando Magic at home on Monday.
