Unfortunately for a lot of their fans, the New York Knicks are one of the worst NBA franchise in the past 20 years. They hadn't made the playoffs since 2013 when they lost in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Pacers. Every season, there is always a feeling like they're on the right track, and we might see them moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, this season is no different, and they are currently the worst team in league with a 4-18 record.
On top of all that, they decided to fire their head coach David Fizdale after signing him to a four year $22 million contract in 2018. Fizdale will get paid for the next two years despite not coaching the Knicks anymore, which falls under one of the numerous bad business decisions they made as a franchise. After finishing last season with a 17-65 record, a poor early start to this season sealed his tenure with the Knicks. Even though they are numerous circulations going around on who might take over as their head coach, there's already a list of potential new coaches for the Knicks, assuming Mike Miller isn't retained at the end of the season. Mark Jackson is one of the leading favorites to land this job, but there are also some other names that the Knicks management is considering.
The Knicks have a solid young group of players, and nobody expected them to have such a slow start into this season. It's also worth mentioning that some of their key players had problems with injuries. Nevertheless, it's apparent things within the organization are not working properly, and the same type of issues occur every season. The Knicks changed five head coaches in the last five years, and only time will show if the new head coach, whoever they appoint, will shake the team up and use their talent in the right way.
