Luckily for the Brooklyn Nets fan, Kyrie Irving is back with the team, and we’ll be able to witness him on the court playing with Kevin Durant and James Harden together. In an interview with the media, Irving gave an elaborative response on why he was gone. According to Irving, he had to break everything, which enabled him to see things differently.
The thing that is pretty interesting, and when you take a break from everything, there are so many assumptions about what is going on. So many people feel like they know me best but have no idea who I am or what I am about, or what I stand for. Even for them to take the time or for me to invite them so it’s a two-way street. When things become overwhelming in life, you just got to take a step back and realize what is important.Kyrie Irving
Even though some people said he is no longer interested in basketball, Irving said his commitment was never a question. He is aware of the responsibility he holds with the team and is ready to make his presence felt.
I love to play, there has never been a question of me committing, and this wasn’t even a thing for me. I really didn’t care about the media and the fandom. I only cared about were the ethics of the game and being taught the fundamentals. Now that has become bigger and more responsibility I have in this position, I am grateful because I am able to stand on this platform with others alongside me that have sacrificed and going through similar things. I am not alone in this, and that is the big thing also about mental health just coming in and being balanced with yourself first and then being able to perform.Kyrie Irving
