Former NBA player Stephen Jackson – a close friend of George Floyd – is doing his part to help Floyd’s family, almost 8 months after a tragic event that sparked a wave of protests across the country.
Floyd’s daughter Gianna is getting so much love from not just us but from people all around the world who are showing support. I’m just continuing to do what I said I was going to do; I said I was going to be my brother’s keeper and take care of his daughter and make sure that her next days are her best days.Stephen Jackson, The Rematch with Etan Thomas
It turns out, Stephen isn’t the only celebrity trying to help the Floyds. The former NBA forward revealed on “The Rematch” that many other well-known figures got involved, with the most notable one being the Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving, who, according to Jackson, bought George Floyd’s family a new home.

According to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, Irving gave the family the money for the house about five or six months ago. Since then, he’s been actively involved with social issues, using an NBA platform to speak up on the matters that are of utmost importance for him as an individual.
Irving’s latest absence from the team is reportedly also due to social justice reasons. Last week, while the Nets were playing the Nuggets, he appeared on a Zoom call with others who were showing support for the campaign of a Manhattan district attorney candidate. He’s yet to make comments on the issue, but it’s obvious he’s using his time off to get involved with things that have the most value for him.
When Irving does take the floor again, it’ll be the debut game of the Nets superstar trio involving Kyrie, Kevin Durant, and their newly acquired superstar James Harden. Hopefully, Kyrie will address his absence and return to being a dominant basketball force we’re used to seeing on NBA hardwoods.
