Kobe Bryant is opening a Mamba Sports Academy for athletes

After his NBA career, Kobe Bryant continued with other ventures that are still closely related to the game of basketball or even sports in general. Kobe’s next plan is to open a Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California. This center would serve as a training ground for different types of athletes and even those in the esports industry.

The Mamba Sports Academy will provide housing for the athletes and they will also have basketball courts, volleyball courts, a turf field and a biomechanics lab, batting cages and pitching mounds.

It initially opened in 2016 and is already supporting close to 50,000 athletes. The goal of this investment is to tie the brand Bryant has built around him so the academy can grow and improve in every possible way. In their official release, they are expecting these changes to be fully implemented by January 2019.

Bryant believes in the idea and says it also a way to pass on the knowledge and educate the kids through sports.

“Sports Academy has perfected the art and science of athletic training, from elite players to young kids getting started,. MAMBA Sports Academy is a natural expansion of my commitment to educating and empowering the next generation of kids through sports.”

Bryant has been investing a lot since he retired and this recent venture is a part of his media and storytelling portfolio in which he already invested over $100 million dollars. In a recent interview with the USA today, he even mentioned that he is interested in the e-sports organizations.

“You can’t help but be interested” in competitive gaming.”
