Kobe Bryant explains why he doesn’t plan to attend many Lakers games this season

The NBA season officially started yesterday, and even though the Toronto Raptors played against the New Orleans Pelicans, the game in Los Angeles was the main attraction. The Clippers beat the Lakers, and even though a lot of people tuned in to watch the game, Kobe Bryant, who is considered the greatest Lakers of all time, didn’t attend the opening match. Bryant didn’t have much interest in even watching the game last night on tv.

“I might look at the score on my phone, but that’s about it.”

After retiring from the game of basketball, Bryant completely changed his mindset. He is now dedicating most of his time to his family and the businesses he is running. Bryant was obsessive about basketball, but after playing in his last game against the Utah Jazz, his mentality changed and is now no longer interested in attending Lakers games. Now that he is a father of four daughters, every second matter. The same way Bryant dedicated his life to be the best basketball player he can be, now he is investing the same effort in being the best father to his daughters.

“I have a life, and I have my routine at home. It’s not that I don’t want to go [to Lakers games], but I’d rather be giving B.B. a shower and sing Barney songs to her. I played 20 years, and I missed those moments before. For me to make the trip up to Staples Center, that means I’m missing an opportunity to spend another night with my kids when I know how fast it goes. I want to make sure the days that I’m away from them are days that I absolutely have to be. I’d rather be with them than doing anything else.”

When it comes to basketball, Bryant is now involved in his Mamba League, which is a young basketball program he created in a partnership with Nike. Bryant also opened the Mamba Sports Academy, which serves as a practice center for young athletes who are striving for greatness. After his retirement, Bryant is now mostly interested in passing on the knowledge he gained to the younger generations starting from his daughter and her teammates to some of the younger NBA players that want to learn from the Black Mamba himself.
