Killian Hayes out with season-ending injury

We have some bad news coming from Detroit. Their 7th pick in this year’s draft and rookie prodigy Killian Hayes has suffered a labral tear in his right hip, as he is likely to miss 6-9 months following an MRI per Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The Pistons decided to throw the young French point guard into the fire early, making him a starter and trying to accelerate his learning curve as fast as possible. He suffered an ankle injury last week, but it wasn’t anything serious. Unfortunately, the hip injury he suffered Monday versus the Bucks after a collision with Jrue Holiday is a lot more serious.

Hip injuries can be different depending on their severity, but it looks like Hayes didn’t have any luck as he will have to sit out the rest of his rookie season and get ready to come back next year. Just think of Isaiah Thomas and what his career turned out to be after his hip injury while playing for the Celtics. The Pistons are not taking any chances with their young rookie.

Dwyane Casey will now have to tweak the rotation a bit, as Derrick Rose will probably fill in for his starting lineup position. Hayes started in all the seven games he played, averaging 4.6 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 21.1 minutes of action.

This injury is a tough break for the talented point guard and the Detroit Pistons, but they are firm believers this is just a minor setback for him, as he will rehab and continue to work on his game.
