Kevin Love speaks about how LeBron inspired the 3-1 comeback in the NBA Finals against Golden State Warriors

Kevin Love was hosted on a podcast with Gary Vaynerchuk,  where he gave more insight into the most memorable moment of his long NBA career. For Love, it was LeBron who provided the most inspiring moment when they were losing to the Warriors in the 2016 NBA finals, a series that made the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead against the Cavaliers.

Love said that his teammates and especially LeBron got really hyped after they saw various posts on different social media channels how the Warriors are already the champions and how their legacy might be even greater than the one of the Showtime Lakers. This was the moment that obviously inspired LeBron to take over the control of the series which he did providing several crucial plays that will forever be rememered.

“I remember in Oakland we went to their practice facility. Klay Thompson started to talk how they were better than the showtime Lakers. That was also a shot at his dad. So we go over the Bay bridge and that commentary starts to pick up. It was all over various social platforms, sports radios, everywhere. That is when LeBron just looked around and said guys this is written, we going to win tomorrow night. We’re going to have a huge game, it’s going to be tough but it’s going to come down to the last 2 minutes and we’re not losing at home, game 7 anything can happen. And that is how it played out. It still gives me chills when I think about it.”

The 2016 NBA finals featuring the Warriors who went 73-9 in the regular season, and the Cleveland Cavaliers who were an obvious underdog despite having LeBron on their roster was one of the best in recent NBA history. The Cavs were able to come back from 3-1 deficit and win the first ever championship in their franchise history behind tremendous performances from both LeBron James and Kyrie Irving who were both clutch in the most important moments of game 7.
