There was an ongoing debate on ESPN’s show First Take about the best pure scorers in NBA history, and everyone took a different stance on this subject matter. Kendrick Perkins, who made a guest appearance on the show, is convinced Kevin Durant is the greatest scorer in NBA history, claiming Michael Jordan was never apart of the 90/50/40 club. He started arguing with Max Kellerman, who picks Michael Jordan in this debate, saying he is only a stats guy and doesn’t know real basketball.
KD is one of the most efficient scorers that we ever saw. Michael Jordan never finished in the 90/50/40 club. … By the eye test, Max — since you just a numbers guy — by the eye test, KD is the best scorer that I’ve ever seen. He has zero flaws to his game.
Interestingly enough, it seems Kevin Durant was watching the show and sending out a tweet in which he ended the debate showing humility. Durant said nobody will ever top MJ and how he is still learning about basketball and wishes to be left out of these pointless debates.
.@KendrickPerkins called Kevin Durant the best scorer of all time.@maxkellerman: “Michael Jordan not only scored more than KD, won more than KD, but scored more efficiently than KD.” pic.twitter.com/Xpi0nJ5u2M

MJ is one of one, God level, unmatched, unparalleled, a pure master at this. I’m still watching his games to learn. Leave me out of it please.

It’s hard to compare the two, especially since KD is an entirely different type of player, but extremely efficient and one of the best scorers we’ve ever had the opportunity to watch play. His career is not over, and he still has multiple good years ahead of him, so when it’s all said and done, he decides to retire, then having this type of discussion might make more sense.
