Kevin Durant is notorious for following social media, using burner accounts to communicate with fans, and reading absolutely every article out there published on him. Durant wants to be informed and wants to be on top of things when it comes to his brand and how news reporters, for the most part, portray his likeness on social media and online.
KD was featured in the latest episode of the Knuckleheads podcast with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. Quentin touched upon Kevin’s need to be informed and respond to anything that sparks his mind, regardless of talking to a fan or a verified blue badge profile.
Kevin explained why he follows everything, “You start hearing so much stuff, through the grapevine, you see that article on you, you see this on you… I don’t wanna be the last dude to hear some stuff on me. So I gotta stay up on who is talking what, especially when it comes to me.”
Kevin Durant on wild NBA takes
Durant is not amused by NBA writers, especially journalists faking to be nice to him to get exclusive content for an over-exaggerated headline that might go viral.
“We are amongst all of these NBA writers, a lot of these dudes be cool in front of you and then go back and write how they really feel about you.” Durant continued by saying, “Y’all keep the conversation going, but I’m still paying attention and when I wanna poke out, I’m gonna do it.”
Why so serious?
What most fans, as well as NBA writers don’t understand is that KD is cracking up for the most part when commenting on Instagram or Twitter. People take all of his actions online way too seriously, and things often tend to be overblown — especially with journalists trying to create sensational and clickbaity headlines or purposefully giving wild and unverified takes.
