It seems the Kawhi drama is coming to an end. As reported by ESPN and Bleacher Report, trade between the Raptors and Spurs is “imminent”. The trade will probably revolve around DeRozan.
DeRozan did not take this news lightly. In a story posted on his Instagram profile, he wrote “Be told one thing & outcome another. Can’t trust em. Ain’t no loyalty in this game. Sell you out quick for a little bit of nothing…soon you’ll understand…Don’t disturb…” He is obviously referring to the Raptors as it has been reported that he had a conversation during Las Vegas Summer League with the Raptors front office and was assured he will not be traded. Will this frustration carry on to the Spurs if he does not want to be traded no one knows, but it is also a risk the Spurs will obviously take.
The Raptors GM Masai Ujiri is taking a big risk hoping he can convince Kawhi to resign and not go to LA after the 2018-2019 season. The Raptors will be able to offer a five-year $190 million while other teams could give a max of $141 million for four years.OKC managed to do it with Paul George, but many still pointed out it was an exception, not the rule. Will Kawhi become (and remain) a Raptor? When we know, you will know. Stay tuned.
