A few years ago, former NBA player Karl Malone made a guest appearance on the ‘Dan Patrick Show’ in which he talked about various basketball-related topics. One of the things Malone revealed was his all-time favorite starting lineup, which consisted of a few names that most people wouldn’t put on their list.
Throughout his 19-year-long career, Malone played with and against numerous basketball legends and still actively follows the NBA. In his favorite starting lineup, Malone obviously included John Stockton with whom he shared the same locker room for 18 years and developed chemistry rarely seen on basketball courts. Surprisingly, LeBron James and Scottie Pippen are in Malone’s favorite lineup.
I got to have Wilt Chamberlain as my center. I gotta have John Stockton as my point guard. I gotta have LeBron James, and I’m going to put him on my power forward position because he would be a tough matchup. I gotta put Oscar Robertson at my two-guard. I will shock the world, and I would put Scottie Pippen as the three men.Karl Malone, via Dan Patrick Show
Most of the fans wouldn’t understand why Malone left Michael Jordan from this lineup and put Pippen and LeBron instead. Malone elaborated he always admired Pippen’s versatility and ability to do so many things equally good for his team. When it comes to James, Malone simply said he has a ‘man-crush’ for LeBron for a while now and respects everything he did so far in his career.
Scottie Pippen led the team in every statistical category when he was there without Michael Jordan, so that is why I gotta put Scottie Pippen. I just like Scottie Pippen, but I have a man-crush on LeBron James.Karl Malone, via Dan Patrick Show
