James Worthy explains which player today reminds him the most of Hakeem Olajuwon

James Worthy was one of the biggest stars in the NBA while playing for the “Showtime” Lakers during the ’80s and Worthy recently said he is fascinated by Anthony Davis and his ability to dominate both ends of the floor equally efficiently. Worthy even went that far and said Davis reminds him off Hakeem Olajuwon which is a definitely big compliment for Davis.

Worthy who was a versatile forward himself believes Davis is a great addition for the Lakers and he considers him to be the most dangerous player in the NBA right now. The main reason why Davis will be a useful piece for the Lakers, Worthy sees in his ability to play in various systems because of his versatility and ability to contribute the team in several ways.

“Anthony Davis to me is the modern-day Hakeem Olajuwon. He may be the most dangerous guy on both ends of the court. When I think about an elite player like that and if you are trying to rank them I think of the guys who demand the most attention on the court. 5 guys are always aware of where Anthony Davis is. In pick n roll, he is receiving a lot of lob plays or internal passes and he can also stretch to the elbow and shoot a 15 footer. He is a willing passer and has been known to shoot the three. If someone else is collapsing the defense you have to know where he is. I would rank him as an elite player and he is in my top 5 as far as of the most dangerous players.”

Anthony Davis became a Laker this summer after a trade the team made in order to get him and for the first time in his career, he has a great group of players to support him in. There is no doubt he will contribute immediately, however, Davis is known as a player that is often injured and if the Lakers use him wisely, he can definitely be in the MVP conversation once again.
