THIS IS AWKWARD

James Harden’s soon to be opened restaurant is getting terrible reviews from the Rockets fans

Although James Harden is packing his bags for New York, he’s still set to open up a steakhouse in Houston this month.

“Our entire staff and team are looking forward to providing top-notch service and bringing a one-of-a-kind dining experience to Houston,” restaurant spokeswoman Sherrie Handrinos told the Chronicle. “We are looking forward to sharing our extensive menu and beautiful restaurant with the city.”

The restaurant, Thirteen, is named after a jersey number Harden wore during his 8-year run with the Rockets. On the surface, it sounds like good business. Professional athletes open restaurants all the time, and it’s usually categorized as a safer type of investment. However, Harden’s venture has uncertainty looming all over it, and it’s all due to timing.

The grand opening is scheduled around two weeks after the Rockets superstar got his wish and joined the Brooklyn Nets. It’s a move Houston fans aren’t happy about, and they’re venting their frustrations on the soon to be opened dinner, leaving horrible Google reviews as a way of sticking it to their former superstar player.

Hopefully, the food is great once Thirteen opens its doors. The animosity shown by the Rockets fans won’t last forever. Once the dust settles down, they should be able to objectively assess the quality of Harden’s restaurant. In the meantime, it won’t be a go-to dinner in the Houston area — that’s for sure.
