James Harden believes his last season was “one for the books”

Despite not winning the NBA championship last season with the Houston Rockets, James Harden had himself a truly historic season doing things that haven’t been seen in decades. Harden is aware of the records he was breaking last season and thinks people will truly appreciate it after he retires from the game of basketball. In the interview for the radio show The Box, Harden believes he should have won the MVP and that the media had major influence in making that decision happen.

“One for the books, even when I’m gone, they’re going to talk about it. Once the media creates a narrative about somebody from the beginning of the year, they just take that narrative and run with it throughout the year. All I can do is control what I can do and go out there and do what I do at a high level.  There are only a few other seasons that anybody has done that before.”

People were following Harden’s every game because he would orchestrate unbelievable performances on a nightly basis. He finished the season averaging 36 points but at the same time keeping his teammates involved when double-teamed which resulted in 7.5 assists per game. Harden even improved defensively and is no longer a liability on the defensive end of the floor.

A lot of people dislike Harden because he would flop at certain times, which is true but all great players did the same thing if the thought it’s necessary for them to win games.  Harden’s ability to score buckets with ease is something that captivated a lot of fans and the media who were tuned into every game. Even though he didn’t win the MVP award he plans to return even better next season because he believes improving his game is the only thing he can control in this situation.

“People were tuned in to see how many points would I score the next game but I can’t control that. The only thing I can control is coming back next year is a better player than I was and win a chip.”
