Ever since joining the Dallas Mavericks, Redick’s “disgusted face” number has gone through the roof. In fact, never in his 15-year NBA career had he seen that many shots worthy of pulling his famous face. Then again, never in his career had he played with a shot-maker on the level of Luka Doncic.
Just last week, with 7:35 left in the third quarter of the Mavericks’ win over the Pistons, Doncic banked in a three-pointer from near half-court, putting Dallas up by 9. Somewhere on the Mavs bench, JJ was shaking his head in awe of what he had just witnessed.

I remember specifically on Wednesday night when he made that that shot and making that disgusted face. I think that was the second time during the game that I made that face.JJ Redick, The Old Man and The Three
That’s what impresses JJ the most about Doncic’s tough shot-making – “the frequency with which he does it.” Luka shocked the NBA world just seven days earlier when he hit a one-handed three-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Memphis Grizzlies. At that point, Reddick had already been stunned by a shot Luka had made over Ja Morant just 5 minutes earlier.
There’s very few people in the world that can make those shots, and the degree of difficulty is 10 out of 10. It speaks to his elite playmaking, and it also speaks to the joy with which he plays. I don’t see pressure when he plays basketball. He just enjoys the game; it’s free-flowing, he’s just a phenomenal player, and I’ve been really impressed with his shot-making. It’s elite.JJ Redick, The Old Man and The Three
Redick’s “disgusted face” better be on standy – Luka Doncic is far from done.
