Isiah Thomas shares which are the three most dominant players in NBA history

Former NBA player Isiah Thomas is a true legend of the game and has been around the league for over four decades now, implying he’s seen quite a bit of basketball in his lifetime. While making an appearance on ESPN’s show Get Up, he talked about the all-time great NBA players and touched upon the most dominant players in the league’s history.

Even though it doesn’t sound as much of a surprise, Michael Jordan is not one of those players, and Thomas stressed out it has nothing to do with him not liking him, and it’s all based on his personal opinion and knowledge of the game.

I say this with no disrespect to Jordan, and every time I say this, I get well Isiah hates Jordan, doesn’t like him, so on and so forth. It has nothing to do with it.

For Isiah, players like Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and LeBron James are the most dominant in NBA history. The reasoning behind it is that they produced the most extensive amount of successes in the most extended period of time.

What I’m seeing in LeBron James as a complete basketball player dominating this period of time. I haven’t seen anybody else do that in the league with the exception of two people, and that is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Russell.

In Isiah’s mind, there is no question LeBron James is the best basketball player in NBA history when you put things into perspective. He argues that his ability to do so many things on such a high level makes him the most complete basketball player. Thomas always shared his respect for Jordan and admitted there are a few segments in which he is better than LeBron, but overall, LeBron has the advantage. Jordan won more championships, and Isiah acknowledges that. However, LeBron is doing remarkable things for over a decade, constantly making it to the finals, which is a perfect sign of dominance that makes him the greatest in Isiah’s book.

When you talk about a complete basketball player, LeBron James is a much better basketball player than Michael Jordan. Now Michael Jordan is a great scorer, and he dominated, and he did some things he has been criticized for not doing. But when you look at what he’s does on the basketball floor: rebounding, assisting, scoring. No one has had this stretch of dominance in our league like LeBron James has had. Winning rings does matter because it’s not just the statistical category, but it also means what you do when you get there.

Whether you agree with Isiah’s opinion or not, you have to admit he brought some valid points to this argument. Isiah has been around the game for such a long time he was able to play against many HOF players and watch them play just like he did LeBron ever since he came to the league. It’s always great when a HOF player like Isiah shares his thoughts on this specific topic, and even though many would disagree, it’s good to hear different opinions.
