Iman Shumpert talks about LeBron’s incredible basketball IQ: “I’m sitting there baffled”

Iman Shumpert made a guest appearance on the VladTV podcast. He talked about his career and shared a few interesting stories about the various NBA players he had the opportunity to play with in the last decade. Shumpert is fascinated with LeBron more than any other NBA player because of the unbelievable combination of basketball IQ and physical attributes he possesses. During his three-year-long tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers, there were countless situations both on and off the court in which Shumpert was amazed at the things LeBron was capable of doing, which seemed surreal for him.

According to Shumpert, LeBron is exceptionally knowledgeable about the game and understands other teams and specific coaches’ playing styles. He would often surprise Schumpert by some pretty random things he knew about particular teams and the plays their coaches love to run.

If you are talking about someone who knows the playbook, knows where everybody is supposed to be. He even knows the other team coaches playbook, style of coaching, and how his ball club is going to play. He makes me feel like I didn’t do my homework.

Even though he played with Carmelo Anthony in the first few years of his career, Shumpert thinks LeBron has a more noticeable impact on the game. On offense, teams are so focused on LeBron, which gives other players room to shine, and he is so unselfish that he is continually trying to find his teammates in the best possible positions, and he often does just that.

Everything he is saying, you just watch it happen. Even I’m sitting there baffled. But he will break the game down for you on why something happened.

During his time with the Cavaliers, Shumpert was able to see LeBron impact the game like no other player in the game, and he even admits a lot of it seemed unreal. One of those things was winning an NBA championship after being down 3-1 in a finals series against the Warriors. LeBron impacted the game on both ends of the floor, and with the help of Kyrie Irving and the rest of the team, secure the first and only championship in Cavaliers history.
