GILBERT ARENAS THINKS TEAMS WERE wrong about Jimmy Butler: ‘Other teams said he was a bad locker room guy.

Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas made a guest appearance on the Fubo Sports podcast and shared his appreciation for Jimmy Butler and everything he is doing with the Miami Heat. In the last couple of years, there was a notion that Butler was a demanding player and somewhat a ‘bad apple’ because he didn’t stay long with the Sixers and Timberwolves.

According to Arenas, Butler’s recent individual performances shouldn’t be a surprise because he finally found a team that best suits his character and mindset. Ever since his college days, Butler was an underdog who had to work hard to get where he is at the moment, and the majority of players on the Heat had a similar road to the NBA. Butler’s approach is not suitable for every team and player because he is the type of leader who will be all over you if you are not disciplined and not working hard.

Three other teams said he was a bad locker room guy. You take him to a team that likes to work under an organization that thrives on hard work, he is amazing. He has discipline, so when he is looking at guys who are not disciplined enough, guys say we don’t do that around here.

The Heat did a tremendous job when they landed Butler because he is the perfect complementary piece to a young and talented group of players on their roster. Arenas made a great point by saying the Heat doesn’t have another All-Star on the team, but they function great as a team, and their success is the by-product of Butler’s leadership and assertiveness.

Then you put him in a winning situation where those guys thrive, and they need that type of situation. That is not even the most talented group of players he’s been around. There is no other all-star on the team, and there is no superstar on the team. There isn’t even a top 25 player on that team, but those guys are dogs.

Heading into tonight’s game, it’s hard to predict whether the Heat will surprise everyone and steal game five. The one thing you can count on is that the Heat will give everything they have to win this game. The Heat will try to extend the series because that’s in their DNA, and Butler will make sure they don’t go out without a good fight.

Throughout his entire life, Butler showed incredible resilience and imprinted the same mindset to his teammates. The only way they can potentially turn this series around is with team-oriented basketball that propelled them into one of the best teams ever since the NBA started.
