Gilbert Arenas talks about the game against the Lakers when he wore the $395 Dolce & Gabbana shoes

Gilbert Arenas was one of the most intriguing players in recent NBA players. The only thing that matched his offensive skillset on the court was his unusual behavior off the court that pretty much cost him his career despite making an insane amount of money during that period. In a recent interview on ESPN’s show The Jump, Arenas talked about his time with the Washington Wizards, where he established himself as a great basketball player.

In the interview, he said that team despite having a lot of talent was extremely immature, and it often looked like it was a frat house rather than an NBA team. Arenas shared what it was like wearing the Dolce & Gabbana shoes in a game against the Lakers, which weren’t even his. They belonged to Nick Young, but Arenas took it from him and decided to wear them in a game because they matched the jersey the Wizards were wearing at that time.

Arenas finished the game with 23 points, which pretty remarkable when you consider the fact those weren’t shoes specifically designed for basketball.

“I didn’t have a shoe contract at that moment, so I was testing out different shoes. Nick Young came to the locker room with the Dolce & Gabbana shoes on, and it matched the jersey, so I put them on. I took the shoes put them on, and played. It was just one of those days when I had regular shoes on during shootaround, and we ran out there, switched shoes.”
