Gilbert Arenas believes that Bronny James could be better than his father

Even though once upon a time LeBron James and Gilbert Arenas were fierce rivals, battling each other in playoff series between the Cavaliers and the Wizards, they have the utmost respect for each other. LeBron came to Arenas asking him to help and reevaluate his son Bronny James on his game.

Arenas recently told NBC Sports Washington’s Chris Miller a fascinating story on how LeBron himself asked him to help Bronny with some tips and give LeBron a scouting report back:

“LeBron hit me on Instagram and said, ‘My son is starting to train, and he’s training with Dribble2Much. Can you go over there and put some eyes on him and let me know because I’m kind of worried about him.‘ I went there, watched him, and gave him some pointers.”

After taking a look at Bronny and training with him for a while, Arenas returned with a report to LeBron. Agent Zero had nothing but praise for Bronny.

“He’s your clone; you don’t need to be worried. Just from looking at him, you were probably taller, you’ve got the same speed, he probably jumps higher. Passes probably the same, IQ probably the same, he shoots better and dribbles better. He [James] said, ‘that is actually correct.’ … From his bone structure, he’s going to be all of 6-8, 6-9, and the fact that he’s jumping higher now means he’s going to be 6-8, 6-9 with a 44-inch vertical…when he takes it seriously, it’s going to be scary.”

Bronny James is currently just 16 years old, and a sophomore in high school, but is already gaining attention from colleges and even NBA teams, as he is a four-star prospect and ranked no. 25 in the 2023 class.

He may not be as hyped as his father was during his high school days, but with the genes, talent, and guidance from some of the best minds and players to ever play this game, he is bound to be great. Hopefully, the pressure of his last name doesn’t affect him to be as good as he can be.
