Giannis won the All-Star Game MVP, but Curry and Lillard stole the show

For the fourth straight year, Team LeBron won the NBA All-Star game, after they cruised to a 170-150 victory over Team Durant on Sunday in Atlanta.

The LeBron handpicked roster was led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who put up a perfect 16-for-16 performance, securing his first NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award. Thus, the Bucks superstar broke the record of most makes without a miss in an All-Star Game, held by Hal Greer, who went 8-for-8 in ’68.

I was just trying to just play. When you’re around guys like Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry, and Chris Paul, it’s just easy. Nobody is worrying about me. I’m just playing one-on-one; nobody is double-teaming. If you feel good, then I feel good that it will be good. I just get up and have fun and just try to get as many shots as I can.

Damian Lillard finished the game with 32 points, and Steph Curry added 28. Both of them shot 8-for-16 from long-range, toying with Team Durant, launching and hitting back-to-back half-court shots at the end of the first half.

Lillard even sealed the victory with a half-court three-pointer with Curry waving goodby to Team Durant before Dame even pulled up.

LeBron James, who described the NBA’s decision to hold an All-Star Game in the midst of the pandemic as a “slap in the face,” tallied 4 points in 13 minutes. Thus the Lakers’ superstar lived up to the quote he had about the game the day it was announced. “I’ll be there if I’m selected,” James said. “But I’ll be there physically, but not mentally.” That’s exactly how it was, and snacking on the bench at the start of the third quarter proves it. LeBron did not return to the game after that.

Bradley Beal led Team Durant with 26 points. Kyrie Irving had 24, and James Harden and Jayson Tatum both added 21. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons missed the contest due to contact tracing, and Zion Williamson replaced the Sixers big-man in starting lineup. He finished the game with 10 points in 14 minutes of action.
