Giannis outdueled KD in an epic battle

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant are some of the brightest stars in the NBA today, and they made sure to showcase all of their talents last night in a duel for the top of the East Conference between the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets. The two amazing forwards led their respective teams as the Bucks managed to pull off a remarkable 117-114 victory.

Giannis was the star of the night, scoring 49 points, along with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. KD wasn’t too shabby on the other end scoring 42 points with 10 rebounds for the Nets. Giannis got help from his two co-stars in Middleton (26 points) and Holiday (18 points), while Durant didn’t have too much support outside of Kyrie Irving (20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) and Shamet (17 points). To be fair, the Nets didn’t have James Harden on the floor, but it still made for a competitive game with all the other stars showing out.

Giannis started his amazing night with a statement – an alley-opp dunk right over KD to set the tone for the night. After that, the two were going back in forth even though the Nets had Jordan matched with Giannis for most of the night, while P.J. Tucker was assigned with stopping KD.

Giannis was burning the Nets with his midrange game, showing a variety of post moves and off the dribble pull-ups. Deandre had no chance guarding him, as he was left on an island most of the night. At the other end, Durant was doing his standard stuff, pulling up from anywhere and terrorizing the Bucks defense. Tucker tried to make it tough for him with his physicality, but the sheer size advantage was too much to handle.

In the end, Durant missed two opportunities from three-point land to tie the game and send it into overtime, as the Bucks managed to scrape away a vital victory and give themselves one more shot to overtake the Nets in the standings. After the game, Giannis gave his props to KD, calling him one of the best scorers ever.

“KD’s one of the greatest scorers to ever play the game … you go back and forth with a guy like that, he’s gonna score 50, 70.”

It proved to be one of the best games of the season and a true clash of some of the best teams in the NBA. A playoff series between these two at full strength would be must-see TV, and this game was exactly what the Bucks needed to convince themselves (and others) they are a force to be reckoned with in the Playoffs.
