Out of all the quotes and moments that were said and heard throughout NBA media day, arguably the most meme-worthy (aside from maybe Kawhi Leonard’s laugh) may have come from Enes Kanter of the New York Knicks.
The NY Knicks star was asked about the team’s postseason goals at media day on Monday and Kanter might’ve overshared just a bit.
“I like it a lot, man. Because I’ve been to playoffs before, and then that should be everybody’s goal,” Kanter says. “It’s the playoffs. When I think about playoffs, my nipples get hard.”
Kanter immediately apologized for the TMI comment … but it’s too late. It’s out there and we can’t un-hear it.
“I’m sorry, that’s the thing. It’s the playoffs. That’s what we play for.”
That was probably not the most professional way to express your feelings, and it’s most certainly not the image we want to see. But I guess we’ll have to take it from a guy like Kanter who is known for his wacky responses. The 6-foot-11 center was all smiles during media day, and his optimism showed that he is definitely excited for the start of a fresh NBA season, as he does look like he loves being a Knick, after expressing his desire to stay with the franchise for the rest of his career.
The eight-year veteran out of Turkey had a career year last season, averaging 14.1 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 71 games in his first year with the Knicks. He also put up the most efficient shooting season in his career by making 59.2 percent of his field goals
In terms of the Knicks’ playoff chances, they are probably on the outside looking in, though there is still a chance considering the many wildcard teams in the Eastern Conference.
