Enes Kanter Freedom & LeBron James
CONTINUING CRITICISM

Enes Kanter Freedom claims LeBron’s teammate told him to continue criticizing The King

Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter Freedom is one of the few LeBron James critics who have been lambasting The King for his ties with Nike and the company’s practices. After all, nobody wants to mess with one of the biggest athletes of his generation who’s backed by a multi-billion company.

However, Kanter found out that some support his stance on LeBron James. Interestingly, it is none other than one of James’ Lakers teammates who told him to push through with what he is doing.

“One of the teammates that LeBron had came up to me and said, ‘Dude, keep doing what you’re doing. What you’re doing is right. Don’t give up,’” Kanter said, The Will Cain podcast.

Kanter was caught off guard. The Celtics big man thought that he was the only man in his quest to topple the King’s empire. Little did he know that James’ very own teammate understands what he’s doing.

“I was very shocked. I thought he was gonna come at me like, ‘Dude stop talking.’ He’s going to try to defend LeBron, right? He’s like, ‘Dude, do not stop.

“You know, he said to me, in the free throw line, he said, ‘I have so much things that I want to say, but I cannot because these teams got us. If you want another contract, if you want more endorsement deals, if you want other companies to work with you, you have to keep your mouth shut. You cannot criticize the league, the companies, Nike or whoever,” Kanter continued.

Freedom’s tirades against James started in 2019 after Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey (now with the Philadelphia 76ers) sent out a tweet in support of the Hong Kong protests against China.

China subsequently cut its ties with the NBA by pulling out of its TV deals, sponsorships, merchandise sales, and the like. In response to the controversial tweet, James tweeted himself:

James tweet was met with memes that poked fun and criticized him. Fans called him names like “LeChina,” “Qing James,” “Cha Qing James,” “Mao ZeBron,” among others.
