Dwight Howard is back with the Los Angeles Lakers and they already have a plan how to use him next season

Dwight Howard is back with the Los Angeles Lakers trying to achieve what he hasn’t done before with the team when he first joined back in 2012. The Lakers were looking for an additional center after DeMarcus Cousins suffered another injury that might end his NBA career.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal with Howard will be non-guaranteed. The Lakers management had a very honest meeting with Howard and they decided to give him another chance after a few disappointing seasons he had in the league.  What is also interesting that some players on the Lakers roster were also involved in this process.

It was also noted Howard lost 25 pounds so far this summer and it seems he got himself in really good shape. However, the Lakers plan for Dwight is pretty straight forward and they want him to protect the rim, rebound and block shots in a limited role. Howard was humbled at the meeting realizing this might be his last chance to actually contribute to a team that is capable enough to win a championship.

If Howard stays healthy and consistent he can definitely be productive for the Lakers giving them solid 15-20 minutes per game. He wasn’t consistent last year even though he showed flashes of his former self putting up some solid numbers in several games before getting injured again. The Lakers are gambling on Dwight with the hopes it actually pays of this time.
