DRAYMOND GREEN TALKS ABOUT HOW THE WARRIORS changed the game of basketball – “Us three f***ing changed the game of basketball forever”

The Golden State Warriors are, without a doubt, one of the greatest teams in NBA history, and their dominance in the last five to six years was truly remarkable. During that period, the Warriors played in five NBA finals, winning three championships with a dominance rarely seen in NBA history.

The Warriors built their dynasty through smart drafting but also signing players who would fit well with their system and the existing core players. They are also one of the reasons for the change in trends we are witnessing in the NBA. The 3-point shooting has become one of the essential ingredients for team success. Never before, we have seen so many 3-points shots in a game until now, and Warriors set the benchmark for every other team.

In a recent interview for the ‘All The Smoke podcast’, Draymond Green talked about everything the team accomplished in the last couple of years and how he now appreciates it even more than ever before. In his mind, the combination of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and himself changed the basketball game because they set a trend that teams, in some way, tried to replicate.

I think I changed the game of basketball with the help of Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry changed the game of basketball with the help of me. I think it was a match made in heaven. All of a sudden, Klay Thompson comes all of a sudden and becomes a top 2 shooter in the world, and us three fucking changed the game of basketball forever.

After last year’s loss in the NBA finals against the Toronto Raptors, the team was depleted with their star players’ injuries. Coming into this season, the only left from the championship squad was Green, who had the time to reflect on all of their achievements. The Warriors were struggling big time so far, and Green soon realized what it feels like to start all over and not to be in the position the Warriors previously were.

I could never imagine that in my wildest dreams, but it’s been such a great run, and honestly, being in that run, you don’t really appreciate it. This year I was able to step outside of that run, and this whole year I would just sit back and think. I just finished a run with the greatest team that ever stepped on the basketball court. I was a big part of that. The NBA is a huge part of the world we live in, and to have the success I had in the NBA and to be a part of something so special, it means the world to me.

Despite their hardships this season, the Warriors might be one of the biggest surprises going into the next season. Both Klay and Steph will be at full health; they have Wiggings who might be an excellent fit for them if he decides to show more intensity, especially on defense. The Warriors will also have the cap space to target one big name in the free agency and have enough assets to improve their squad immediately. If some pieces fall in line for them, we might see them, and Draymond in a few more championships runs in the upcoming years.
