Draymond Green said Kawhi Leonard’s game is different from everybody else: “It’s not as pretty, but boy is it effective.”

Game 1 of the NBA Finals in schedule tonight for the first time in the city of Toronto. Even though many favor the defending champions to win the third consecutive NBA title, the Raptors are not without a chance as long as they have a healthy and fully prepared Kawhi Leonard on their team.

Kawhi was definitely the most dominant player in the playoffs so far and showed a remarkable capability of pretty much scoring at will while at the same time playing great defense on the opposing team’s best players. Some NBA analysts were comparing his style of play to the one of Michael Jordan and the Warriors are aware of the fact that they will need to contain Kawhi if they want to win another title.

Draymond Green who is the best defensive player on the Warriors was asked today at the press conference if stopping Kawhi will be a unique challenge for their team. Green said Kawhi significantly improved since he entered the league and one of the reasons why he was able to be successful is the right mindset he has when approaching games.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say he isn’t dominant just because he dominates the game. I think the challenge with Kawhi is that it doesn’t look the same. Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, LeBron James dominate the game and it doesn’t look the same when Kawhi is dominating the game. It doesn’t look the same, it’s not as pretty, but boy is it effective. A lot of those guys I just named are just natural god given scorers. Kawhi didn’t come to the league as a scorer, yet he is one of the best scorers in the league right now.”
