Kawhi Leonard has been playing like a real MVP ever since he joined the Los Angeles Clippers this summer. He’s been phenomenal on both ends of the floor, and in comparison to the last season, he is playing fewer minutes; however, his input is much greater, especially on the offensive end of the floor. Kawhi is averaging a career-high 29.3 points per game and 5.7 assists per contest, which are both his career highs.
Apart from his efficiency, there are numerous NBA analysts and coaches that said his game is very similar to the one of Michael Jordan. One of those people is his current coach Doc Rivers, who competed against Jordan for over a decade and knew first hand the way Jordan played. The first similarity between the two players that came to Doc River’s mind is their body type. Kawhi same as Jordan has massive hands, which give him a significant advantage over other players, especially on defense. Doc Rivers also believes their mid-range game is very similar, which is something Kawhi uses quite often, especially after he left San Antonio Spurs.
“I think it’s the same, and if the media had been listening to what I was saying, we were saying his body type is the most like Michael Jordan. That’s basically what I was saying. It was the way it was reported that it was wrong. “But we were actually talking about body types, and I said there’s no body type more like Michael Jordan than Kawhi, and I actually said because of his hands and his length, and I did say part of his game, his in-between game, and that took a whole life.
