Dirk Nowitzki sees his professional future with the Dallas Mavericks. “I guess I’ll end up with the Mavs in the end,” said the 41-year-old on Wednesday in Leverkusen at a press conference as part of the charity football game “Champions for Charity”, in which he will take part on 21st of July.
In the medium term, however, Nowitzki will probably not fill a post with the German Basketball Association, but he did not want to close the door.
“I do not want to accept a job, which I can only do half-heartedly.“
In April, after 21 NBA years, the superstar completed his last game in the jersey of the Mavericks, and the new task is currently not in sight. Nowitzki first wants to have a two-year distance from basketball and travel with the family, before he becomes active again in Dallas.
“I’ve been giving them over half of my life and I’ve been growing into the city and the club so much, that, of course, I would like to help and probably will in the future,” said Nowitzki.
Dirk is not missing basketball at the moment.
“I expect in a few months, when the season starts again, that the tingling will come again. But at the moment I am fully satisfied with the decision and look forward to the next chapter of my life.“
