Chauncey Billups and Kendrick Perkins hosted on ESPN’s show “The Jump,” and among many other things talked about their favorite trash-talking moments from their careers. While Perk mentioned KG as the ultimate trash talker who always had something to say, Chauncey remembers the first game he played against Jordan back in 1997 as a member of the Boston Celtics.
Billups talks about a play in which Greg Minor was guarding Michael Jordan. It was the first game of that season, which means everybody was watching, and Minor who was assigned to guard Jordan played as hard as he could.
“When I was a rookie, my very first game was playing against Michael Jordan and the Bulls. We had Greg Minor guarding him. There is a little dust-up, Greg is playing hard, of course, you have to play hard as you can because it’s MJ, it’s opening night, and everybody’s watching.
Billups said after they got into a scuffle and Jordan was shooting his free throws, he dropped the trash-talking line towards Minor, who was wearing Jordans that game.
“They got into a little scuffle, MJ is going to the free-throw line, and he looks at Greg and says I should make you take my shoes off. I looked down, and I see he has Jordans on. “
